Charity Event Sunday 10th September in aid of Cash For Kids.

In response to the two recent terrible events of the Manchester Terror attack and the Grenfell Tower block tragedy in which children were involved, we felt for our charity event this year we would raise funds for the Wave 105fm Cash for Kids. Therefore, we are planning to hold a sponsored Tea Dance on Sunday 10th September 2.30pm-4.30pm at St James Hall. We will have a practice session on Friday 8th September from 4.30pm-6.30pm for all those children able to take part in the Fund-raising Event to rehearse for a short showcase whilst tea is being served. Tickets are available. Price £4.00 per person for spectators.

PLease see the following leaflet for details of this year’s competition. There is a report on last year’s competition below:

Report on the previous Medal Competition held at Queen Elizabeth School, Wimborne.

The previous competition was held on Sunday 2nd April when four very excited girls rose early to have their hair suitably coiffured (thank you mums!) and prepare for a friendly competition day organised by Rhythm and Dance at Queen Elizabeth School, Wimborne.

Isobel and Phoebe Ball, Amelia Price and Freya Light had been practicing hard for several weeks to master Waltz, Tango, Quickstep, Jive, Cha Cha Cha, Paso Doble, Boston Two Step, Woodside Waltz, Disco and Rock n Roll.

Everyone arrived safely an, apart form a panicky phone call from Amelia due to car boot traffic by Hurn, in surprisingly quick time.

First round was approximately 9:30am continuing during the day with solo and couple events. Everyone danced their best and with myself, Victoria and Max, (borrowed from Rhythm and Dance) partnering, we came away with copious trophies and medals.

The day is always fun and friendly including an adult and child event where everyone has a go. Freya danced with her Grandma, Amelia with her Mum and Victoria danced with a boy from another School!.

Intended as an introduction to competitions, the day provided some wonderful moments of joy and early examples of potential talent, particularly one under 8 little girl who amazed everyone with her precise footwork for one so young.

The day’s events ended about 5:30pm and although tired, everyone left happy. WE said our “Thank Yous” to Louise, the organiser, and helpers and made our way home.

Another day of memories and experience.

Available genres for all ages in the session are:
Ballroom, Latin American, Classical sequence,
Disco, Rock ‘n’ Roll and Argentine Tango.
